Visual Resonance

Commissioned as part of a research-led exploration into the relationship between visual stimuli and mood, this project involved creating a series of generative artworks that evolved in colour, movement, and complexity. The visual compositions were designed to operate within a carefully selected colour range, gradually increasing in visual intensity to observe their emotional impact on viewers.

The work consists of three distinct visual environments, each coded in P5.js. Custom shaders and fragments of code adapted from the open-source video synth Hydra were used to achieve the desired aesthetic. The visuals were paired with an original soundtrack composed using binaural beats, designed to enhance the immersive quality of the experience and gently guide emotional response.

This project sits at the intersection of generative art, sound design, and affective research — an experimental approach to understanding how code, colour, and sound can shape emotional states.
